Residents and Visitors

We welcome you to our much loved and cared for church.

Service times are displayed in the Church porch and in the Village Newsletter. Copies of this should be available in Church but if they have all been taken, or if you would like a copy on a regular basis, please contact one of the PCC members. The Newsletter is also available from the home page of this website.
Our Church is one of 6 churches, part of the Benefice that includes Alstonefield, Butterton, Ilam, Warslow with Elkstones and Wetton.

There is a booklet on sale in Church that tells about the History of our Church.

Fundraising and Projects

Easter 2012 saw the completion of a major project. In the place of a very ‘tired looking’ vestry we now have a new kitchen, toilet facilities and first floor Meeting Room.
The 3 bells were removed during this rebuild and are in storage awaiting the restoration of the bell chamber and the bells themselves.  For more information on our project to restore our bells see the bells restoraton page. As part of the second phase of this project, we need to raise funds on a grand scale and our latest venture is a monthly Village Lottery.   Other fund raising opportunities include a Gift day, Afternoon Tea, Raffles, Stalls at Car Boot sales etc.

Apart from the Sunday services throughout the year, we have other services that encourage visitors and residents.
Included is a service of Songs of Praise, our Wakes Service held on St Bartholomew’s Feast day which is August Bank Holiday weekend, Harvest celebrations, Carol singing and a Carol Service where the Nativity is performed by the children of the Parish.

Butterton also hosts the annual Children’s Holiday Club - a 3 day event that takes place in the Village Hall during the school summer holiday. All children both from and out of the Benefice are welcome. Details of this are sent out before the end of the school summer term.

We hope you enjoy your visit to St Bartholomew’s and if you don’t, we want to hear about it! Contact one of the Churchwardens if this is the case.  We are always aware of the need to improve our facilities and would welcome any suggestions.

Please sign our visitors book before you leave (if the Church is open!).
